I got a new Samsung S21 FE 5G smartphone from T-Mobile a couple of months ago and I am impressed with the network speed.
At home I am getting a 90Mbps download speed and 12Mbps upload on this device!
About 15 years ago, I took over the IT management of a 500-room hotel. They had a single T1 connection for internet service. That means the entire building, including guest rooms, conference space, and the back offices were running off a 1.5Mbps internet connection.
If you had told me 15 years ago that today my cellphone would have an internet connection 60x faster than that hotel, I would have laughed you right out of the room.
Here’s where it gets crazy, folks: there is a building in Hyde Park where I work sometimes that barely had any Verizon service. It was a serious problem that affected my ability to work. My 5G connection with T-Mobile clocked at 300Mbps download at that location. That is 200x faster than a wired internet connection that a couple hundred people shared simultaneously only 15 years ago.
The battery life and overall responsiveness of this Samsung model are terrible, though. I have some regrets that I traded in a Samsung Galaxy S10+ for this device, but l will get over it.
