Just paid $12 for a sandwich and a fountain drink. Up from $10 two years ago.
A load of groceries that cost me $400 two years ago costs $500 now. For the same exact stuff.
No effing way inflation is 8.5 percent. More like 10 percent two years in a row. Or maybe 2.5 percent in one year and 17.5 percent the next.
Look at the Consumer Price Index. 10 percent increase year over year. That’s the real measure of inflation anyway. And even that is obviously a way too low estimate.
Let’s face the facts and all agree something is broken with the inflation stats we are getting from the bureau of labor statistics. How can the price of gas go up by 100 percent, the price of food up by 17.5 percent, electricity up by 45%, AND THE OVERALL “INFLATION” RATE ONLY REPORTED AS 8.5 PERCENT?
I mean, don’t get me wrong. 8.5 percent is tragic. But the real situation is even worse than what is being reported.
